Volunteers with the Vancouver Island
Branch of the Cascadia Green Building Council hope to shed some
light on the Living Building Challenge at a one-day symposium
designed to help accelerate green building development in the
capital region.
From rooftop gardens to rammed-earth walls and geothermal heating systems, this event brings together practioners and citizens who aim to transform the buildings in which we live, work and play. The symposium will showcase a series of future-friendly buildings and design practices from around North America that use less, and give back more to the planet and the community.
Speakers include Marsha Gentile, a sustainability construction specialist who has been involved in building a new childcare facility at SFU, and Richard Iredale a renowned architect who has spent the past two decades designing buildings that enhance and restore the local environment. The symposium includes a keynote address by Jason McLennan of the International Living Future Institute who will provide insights on trends, challenges and major milestones in green building design.
Registration is now open for this exciting event. For tickets visit http://cascadiavi.org/lbs/#speakers
