The arts are an essential part of developing our community and contributing to everyone's quality of life. From an economic point of view, any investment in the arts produces an eight fold return, better than any other business.
Through a partnership of municipalities, arts activity is supported through funding programs managed by the Arts Development Service of the Capital Regional District. You can find out more about your municipality's contribution on our website.
Elected representatives, one from each of the contributing municipalities, form the Arts Committee - which is responsible for overall program and policy development that benefits the arts throughout the region. The Arts Advisory Council, a 12 member volunteer committee appointed by the Arts Committee, acts as an advisory body and provides adjudication for funding programs.

The CRD Arts Development Service supports artists through not-for-profit arts organizations via operational and project funding. The Regional Arts Directory provides an online venue for artists and arts organizations to list their information. CRD supported arts organizations produce thousands of events which are attended by hundreds of thousands of people. Currently the CRD invests funding of more than $2 million in the arts community each year.

Municipalities make major contributions to the arts and every contribution to the arts helps sustain our cultural capital. The arts in British Columbia contributes more than $5.2 billion to the provincial economy each year. Supporting the arts is good for our community, inspiring for our children and great for business.
A list of funding recipients and their events can be found on our website.

In the end, no amount of support from generous funders and arts development initiatives will sustain and grow a vibrant arts community without a passionate audience for the arts.
Patrons of the arts need to know where and when arts events are taking place. Part of the CRD mandate is to make that information available. Links to organizations and their arts events are listed on our website.
