Looking for a community event that's fun in rain or shine? Want to make a difference to the health of our local waterways? Interested in fun prizes and refreshments? Look no further--the 10th annual Gorge Waterway Cleanup is taking place on Saturday, September 18 from 9am-12pm.
The Burnside Gorge Community Association is seeking land based volunteers for beach cleanup, and boaters and divers to help remove debris from the waterway. Volunteers from schools, local businesses and non profit organizations will also be involved in this year's cleanup.
Each year, more than two tonnes of debris is removed from the Gorge shoreline and waterways. The result is an improved habitat for local wildlife and a more beautiful ecosystem for people to enjoy.
For more information and to register for the event, contact the Burnside Gorge Community Centre at 250.388.5251. Or visit their website: www.burnsidegorge.ca.
